Services

Logistech provides a range of services designed to address supply chain issues. We can help to develop logistics strategy, examine tactical issues such as transport resources or give advice on operational issues such as performance improvement. We take a scientific approach, quantifying the different options that we evaluate. We often provide the technical skills and capability to support our clients' internal processes.

We provide these services to leading retailers, distributors, manufacturers and logistics companies. We also work with other consultants on collaborative projects, providing the supply chain modelling capability.

Supply Chain Network Planning

Logistech can provide strategic advice on the location of production and distribution facilities and how these will need to change to meet future plans. We can determine the products handled by sites and the market they can serve most economically.

Typical questions that we address are:

●  how many production, distribution and cross-dock centres should I have and where should they be?

●  how should I change my logistics network to respond to changes in market, competitor or supplier conditions?

●  how and where should products be sourced, manufactured, assembled and stored?

●  what are the CO2 emissions from my supply chain and how can I reduce them?

Modelling can be undertaken at a simplified level to obtain an indication of the best strategy quickly. Alternatively, complex models can be constructed of global supply chains at product level, using sophisticated cost models.

Fleet Sizing and Route Planning

Logistech can carry out detailed transport modelling, either as part of a strategic review or as a free standing project. Typical questions would be:

●  what is the impact on my vehicle fleet of changing my delivery frequencies?

●  how many vehicles do I need for my base level of activity and how many to cover the peak?

●  what is the cost of serving particular customers, geographic areas or delivery sizes?

●  what carriers should I use, for what consignments, at which despatch locations?

Operations Improvement

Logistech can provide advice on performance improvements and operational methods.

Typical questions that we address are:

●  can we improve our warehouse operations and improve efficiency and/or capacity?

●  do we follow best practice working methods?

●  should we contract out our distribution operations?

The advice we provide could range from a brief survey of operations highlighting areas for improvement to a detailed study and simulation of warehouse layout and operating methods. Where appropriate we can use sophisticated computer programs for activity based costing, modelling and simulation.
