Supply chain modelling using world leading software

A logistics company was making 200,000 deliveries a year to a major UK restaurant chain from three distribution centres and wanted to optimise their delivery schedules. The schedules needed to incorporate multi-temperature vehicles, different delivery frequencies, multi-shifting and stringent time windows.

Our client carried out an extensive survey of the facilities and time restrictions at the restaurants. Delivery frequencies were reviewed for each delivery point taking into account individual capacities and sales patterns.  New schedules were produced and the boundaries between the distribution centres were adjusted to minimise delivery costs while respecting the need to balance the workload between the sites.

Core schedules were developed using the Paragon route planning system and were extensively tested and adjusted with operational feedback. They were then successfully implemented, leading to significant cost savings.
